Korean Culture, Strategically Applied.
We help global brands navigate Korea, and Korean brands speak to the world, through cultural intelligence, brand strategy, and creative direction.
Kosmosis observes culture. The Foundry applies it.
The Foundry is the cultural intelligence and strategy practice of Kosmosis, based in Seoul and working globally.
Korea is one of the world’s most influential and rapidly changing cultural markets. Understanding it requires more than tracking trends or translating language. It requires an understanding of the histories, behaviours, aesthetics, and emotional codes that shape how people perceive value, identity, and belonging.
For global organisations, we provide the context needed to engage with Korea more meaningfully. For Korean businesses, we translate locally understood strengths into narratives and brand experiences that can travel across cultures.

What We Do
Cultural Intelligence
We uncover the contexts and cultural codes that shape how people think, choose, and connect.
Our work includes cultural immersion programs, market briefings, audience insight, opportunity mapping, workshops, and strategic reports designed to turn observation into business understanding.
Brand Strategy
We transform cultural understanding into positioning, narrative, and market opportunity.
Our work spans brand purpose and vision, naming, positioning, corporate and employer branding, founder narratives, market-entry strategy, and bilingual brand expression.
Creative Direction
We bring strategy to life through identity, content, and experience.
Working with trusted creative collaborators, we shape visual identities, campaigns, editorial content, films, digital platforms, spaces, and cultural experiences that feel both locally grounded and globally relevant.
How We Work
Our work is grounded in the ongoing editorial practice of Kosmosis. This allows The Foundry to approach culture not as a static report, but as something continuously observed, questioned, and understood from within.
observe
We begin with the context: the people, places, behaviours, histories, and tensions surrounding the question.
interpret
We identify the cultural meaning beneath what is visible and translate it into a clear strategic point of view.
apply
We turn that understanding into brand strategy, narrative, identity, content, or experience.
Selected Work
ChatGPT
First Consumer Brand Campaign in Korea
The Foundry partnered with OpenAI on ChatGPT’s first consumer-facing brand campaign in Korea.
Working across global and local teams, we helped interpret the Korean cultural context, identify the attitudes shaping how people relate to AI, and translate those insights into a locally resonant creative direction.
Our role extended from early strategic framing through creative development, helping the campaign remain true to ChatGPT’s global brand while connecting with the aspirations, tensions, and lived realities of Korean audiences.

OpenAI × The SMC
Korea Market Immersion
The Foundry designed and led a two-day Korea market immersion program for OpenAI in collaboration with The SMC.
The program brought together cultural context, consumer behaviour, local environments, and conversations with creative practitioners to help a global team develop a more grounded understanding of contemporary Korea.

Biodance
Founder Story and Global Brand Narrative
Biodance had become a leading Korean skincare brand in the United States, while the founder and vision behind its growth remained largely unknown.
The Foundry positioned the founder’s story as a long-term brand asset and developed a globally relevant narrative capable of building trust beyond individual products.
The project extends across founder storytelling, international creative collaboration, and film production designed to express the company’s ambition with greater clarity and authenticity.

Beauty Selection
Corporate and Employer Brand
As Beauty Selection grew rapidly, its corporate identity and employer narrative needed to catch up with the ambition of the business.
The Foundry clarified the company’s DNA and vision, defined the talent profile and ways of working that supported its growth, and translated them into a bilingual corporate website encompassing strategy, structure, content, and visual direction.
The result was a more coherent corporate platform designed to strengthen recruitment and communicate why people should build their careers with the company.

Why The Foundry
Editorial Intelligence
Our understanding of Korea comes from continuous observation and cultural participation, not desk research alone.
Bicultural Translation
We do more than translate language. We translate meaning, context, and value between Korea and the world.
Strategy Made Tangible
Our work does not end with a report. We bring strategy into narratives, identities, content, environments, and experiences that people can encounter.
Work With Us
Whether you are entering Korea, building from Korea, or looking to understand it more deeply, The Foundry can help turn cultural understanding into meaningful action.
